What are you currently in pursuit of? Are you in the pursuit of a career, a relationship, more money, a vacation, a new home? Whatever it is that you’re pursuing, is it something that is going to benefit your joy, peace, happiness or growth?
We can be easily deceived into believing that once we attain that thing that we’re in pursuit of then we can be happy. But that’s a lie because there is always going to be something new that you want to pursue in your life.
Your peace, your joy, your growth, your success has to be intentional and if you’re pursuing something that isn’t benefiting you in the long run then it’s time to make a change.
Perhaps you’ve been in pursuit of a relationship with someone who you know in your heart is not the best for you but you’ve chosen to settle. Maybe others want you to pursue a promotion at work but you’d rather be in pursuit of a becoming an entrepreneur or a more fulfilling career. Or perhaps you’ve been pursuing a vacation but what you really want is a life that you don’t feel the need to take a vacation from.
Possibly, you’re in pursuit of more money but what you’re really looking for is happiness. More money doesn’t equate to your happiness.
What is it that you’ve been pursuing that isn’t benefiting you? In order to become legendary in your life, purpose, vision and spirit, you’re going to have to be intentional on what you decide to pursue.
Be honest with yourself and admit if there is anything that you’ve been doing, saying or thinking that isn’t benefiting your success. Maybe you have to shift gears in your thought life because you’ve been thinking thoughts of fear, shame and guilt that have influenced your self-worth and as a result, the choices you’re making are hurting you and not helping you.
If you don’t believe that you’re worth more, then that’s what will manifest into your life. Instead of waiting for life to change, become intentional in your thoughts, words and actions so that you can build the life that you desire and not one you’ve settled for.
All things are working together for you good, so don’t beat yourself up if you’ve been making some bad decisions. You have the power to change it around NOW! Until you fall in love with you and let the love of you trump the fear that may have held you back then your life will not change.
You have every right to the joy, peace, growth and prosperity that you desire. And it all begins with being intentional in pursuing what makes you not only better but your best. You weren’t created to live in agony, frustration, fear, doubt or shame, you were created to be legendary in all things that you do! You were created to allow your light to shine, you were created with intention and purpose, you were created to experience the best that life has to offer – but will you be intentional about pursuing it?
Only you know the answer to that and I hope that you make the right choice.

When God calls you, He calls YOU. Not you and your cousins or you and your home girls. I get that sometimes you want people by your side or you want to put your (brother, sister, friend, man, cousin, uncle, nephew etc on) but some opportunities God is opening the door for you and you only.
Once you walk through the door then you will be in the position to open the door for others but you have to be willing stand alone first. Learn to receive your opportunities and accept the favor God has blessed you with. When you do this, you’re not being selfish because what you have been called to do, no one else can do. You have your purpose and everyone else around you has theirs. It may not be in God’s will for you to take the whole world with you during this season of your life.
It can be fearful to stand alone because it will lead you to uncomfortable territory. But it’s in those very moments when you are standing alone that you get closer to God and you grow in character. God wants you to learn to depend on Him and only Him. It’s easy to say you trust God when you have an entire army of people supporting you but can you say that you trust Him when the calling over your life has taken you into a season when you’re alone?
Before Jesus started his ministry, He fasted in the desert alone for forty days. During that time, He experienced His greatest temptations from the enemy but He didn’t bend. If God Himself had to go through a season where He had to endure being alone, then what makes you believe that you’re the exception to the rule? When that season comes, you’re right where God wants you to be because your fellowship and dependency on Him will become unbreakable.
While in His wilderness, Jesus had no one else to rely on but His father. That’s where His strength came from. Prior to this He was baptized in water by John the Baptist. He didn’t say, “John, are you going to come with me through this wilderness?” He knew that in order to fulfill His purpose, He would have to go at it alone for a while. It was after that time where He began to gather His disciples and when He did, He called them each by their individual name. These men had families, homes and jobs but once they got the call, they answered.
God wants to show off in your life but you have to be willing to let Him. Trust God enough to take care of your loved ones during those seasons where you’re “going at it alone.” He will fulfill His will over their lives. Those who truly love you will understand. Of course, you’re not to become self-absorbed but when God calls you, He has your gifts, talents and abilities in mind; not your entire “squad’s.”
It’s time to become the woman that God has called you to be so you can honor what God has called you to do. You are not alone, He is with you!

Everyone wants to be successful, happy and achieve the desires of their heart. Those desires will differ from person to person as your desires may be to become a great wife and mom, another woman’s desires may be to become a world-renowned speaker and another woman’s desire may be to have a successful catering business.
It doesn’t matter what it is that you want to achieve but I want you to know this:
It is going to cost you and success never goes on sale.
You may want to be legendary in the woman you become and in what you accomplish but it will cost you and require you to become uncomfortable. I don’t say this to scare but to prepare you and to remind you that when you’re paying your costs that you’re doing so because you desire a legendary life, not a basic one.
Embrace the cost of creating your extraordinary life and becoming an extraordinary woman. There’s a reason why there are luxury handbags that costs $10,000 and that’s because they cost more to make and they undergo a delicate and time-consuming process to produce.
Would you rather create a cheap, counterfeit life or would you rather be someone that inspires others with your greatness?
You’re going to have to pay the price to be your best in this world. Paying the price may be waking up earlier and going to sleep later so that you can finish writing your book. Paying the price to may be foregoing vacations for a few years so that you can build your business. Paying the price may be investing into your education and taking out a few loans to finish that Master’s program. Paying the price to be a legendary wife may mean forgiving your husband for his infidelity.
A basic woman holds unto unforgiveness. A basic woman allows her pride to stop her from loving the man she desires the way she wants to. A basic woman keeps making excuses for her lack of progress in achieving her goals. A basic woman quits when it gets tough. A basic woman thinks in terms of lack and never having enough. A basic woman is usually surrounded by another group of basic women.
You weren’t created to be basic but to be legendary and to become a legendary woman in your attitude, life, purpose, vision and legacy. It’s not going to be an easy fight but you must continue on your journey and press towards what is ahead of you. This is a new time in your life where God is ready to do a new thing in you and through you.
No need to complain about how hard it is for you. Consider the costs that you have to pay to achieve your desired success as the process to making that one and only $1 million diamond handbag that will never be created again. Of course it’s going to take some time, the material will be exquisite and costly and the process to create it may be grueling but when it’s done it will be far from basic, it will be LEGENDARY!

Nowadays, we are constantly being bombarded with messages telling us what to wear, what to drive, what job to have, where to bank or what to buy. With social media, those messages are being proliferated at such a rapid pace that it can be challenging to figure out who you are and love yourself exactly for who you are and who you aren’t.
Society and social media is one thing but it can be painful when those closest to you don’t accept you or better yet, want you to change to fit a mold that they want you to have for your life. You may be on a quest to be the first in your family to break the mold. Because your loved ones don’t understand, they reject the idea, tell you to do something “safe” or ask you questions like, “Are you sure you want to do that?”
You’re not alone. I come from a Latino household where success looks only one way. It’s to get a good, safe job with benefits, make sure to collect a paycheck every two weeks and the only season to look forward to is income tax refund time. I come from a world where living on purpose isn’t encouraged, it’s actually frowned upon.
I struggled for years before I decided to pursue my purpose because I was paralyzed by the fear of their rejection. But then I realized that what I have been called for, I have been gifted for and so are you!
People will impose their own fears and lack of understanding onto you and you must be aware of when that’s happening. If you don’t, you’ll find yourself living to please the opinion of others. In this life, you can’t make everyone happy all the time. The only happiness that matters is yours.
Lies tell us that we’re not good enough to pursue the life we truly yearn for. We then compare our lives to our counterparts and what we begin to feel are another set of lying thoughts that usually go a little something like –
“I don’t come from much. How can I ever make this happen?”
“I’m not as gifted as she is, there’s no way I can do that.”
“____________ wants me to become a doctor because of the safe income, so that’s what I’m going to be.”
“I’m not as beautiful as she is, so there’s no way I can find a good man and get married. Besides, all men are no good anyway.”
All of these thoughts are rooted in internal fears like the fear of rejection, the fear of failure and the fear of the unknown. If you’re not careful, you’ll allow these fears to deceive you from becoming who you have been called to be and from doing what you have been created to do.
You were created with a purpose and you have your own talents, gifts and abilities. I cannot do what you’ve been called to do; only you can. Think about that – only you can do what you have been called to do, no one else!
I know it can be painful to go outside the box and pursue what makes you happy when loved ones don’t understand but it’s your life and not theirs. You have to garner the courage to go after what makes sense for you because only you can do what you can do. The world is waiting for you to step into your purpose!
Some people will never understand and that’s fine. Their opinion of you shouldn’t change your opinion of yourself. Trust that when it’s time for them to understand they will.
As for now, focus all your energy on you and not them.

What happens when you life lacks vision? Well, when your life lacks vision, purpose or meaning you will try to fill the void with pleasures. Sooner or later the pleasures will never be enough and you’ll find yourself chasing a high that was meant to be fulfilled within you, not outside of yourself.
We can easily fall for this trap as I know I did for many years. While working in the music business at a major record label a few years ago, I was constantly trying to satisfy my unfulfilled soul with all sorts of pleasures to help me cope with being miserable at the job I dreamed of as a child.
I went on vacations, bought the designer shoes, ate the expensive dinners and drank the bottles of wine but yet I was still unhappy. Why? Because I knew I was not living in my purpose.
It took years for me to recognize my dysfunction. Along with that I was paralyzed by fear which kept me seeking all the pleasures in the world when the key to unlock my fulfillment was right inside of me all along.
You have a purpose that’s waiting to be discovered. When you’re using your natural gifts, talents and abilities to serve a human need then you are living in your purpose.
Too many of us are hiding behind vacations, job titles, relationships and a nice Instagram account when you know that deep down inside there is something else in life that you want to pursue. But if you lack vision, then trying to realize that dream is like trying to follow a parked car. Everyone wants to be “happy” but you have to discover what that means to you, get specific about it and pursue your goals.
When you lack vision, your future will be foggy and life will pass you by. When you’re living your life for pleasure, you’ll always be looking for your next high. You cannot live a life based on pleasure and expect fulfillment.
Ask yourself this question –
“What story do I want my life to tell?” Think about your life in 35 years, what story do you want to tell your children and grandchildren? Once you figure out what you want your story to be then you can start to have a vision of where you want your life to go. Once you have the vision, then you can begin to make decisions now to write out that story.
Do you want your story to be one of faith, perseverance and purpose? Do you want a story of integrity? Do you want a story filled with lies? Don’t you want to be able to tell your entire story without skipping any parts? Do you want your story to be rooted in love? Do you want to have the story where you decided to make a change and made it happen? Do you want to be “the first” to do it in your family? What will be the meaning or the inspiration in your story?
Vacations pass. Clothes fade away. Money comes and goes. But there is an unstoppable magic that unfolds when a woman has a vision and a relentless drive to live in her purpose. That woman is YOU!
