This is not another, boring personal development class either. I’m a fabulous and faith-filled, millennial women with tons of personality so I know your struggles girl! About the Event What started as a small idea has now blossomed into our most coveted event of the year. Embrace Her Legacy was honored to to hold our 3rd annual International Day of the Girl Summit in conjunction with The Opportunity Network which took place in New York City on Saturday, October 10th, 2015!
Our mission for the event was to create a transformational, uplifting, inspiring, life-changing experience for (60) high-achieving, multicultural female high-school students who are fellows of the non-profit organization, The Opportunity Network. We honored our girls with a day of empowerment workshops and panels while also advocating awareness for girls rights and education around the world.
Guest speakers Maria I. Melendez, Founder of Embrace Her Legacy and Lucinda Cross, Creator of the Activate Movement left the girls with wisdom, encouragement, motivation and inspiration to not only achieve their dreams but boldly become who they have been called to be.
Our day was filled with empowerment, tears of joy and laughter while relationships are cultivated between esteemed women and driven girls. Our girls were motivated to realize their dreams, kick fear to the curb and garnered resources and relationships to confidently pursue their purpose while learning to embrace their limitless legacy!

Not to mention, girls also enjoyed make-up consultations and “mini” make-overs in our Embrace My Beauty Suite provided by make-up artists, Shameika Simmons and Keyana Caballero!

In celebration of the book release, Embrace Her Legacy invited success-oriented, driven women to join an event dedicated to removing self-imposed limits in their mind’s, future, dreams and God’s power in order to realize their dreams, lead a purpose-driven life and embrace living a limitless legacy.

Offered under the Embrace Her Legacy framework, The Made to Succeed Academy is a curriculum based program offered to high-schools, collegiate institutions and organizations focused on the empowerment of young women. The curriculum is a learning series focused on the overall well-being, empowerment, personal development and professional success of young women and can be offered as a multi-level course with targeted discussion workshops, education series, book discussions or keynote motivational speeches.
Our goal is to empower our young women to become whole young women with a positive self-worth and self-image while also creating a framework for young women to lead purpose-driven lives and live in their legacy.
The overall style of the course is empowering, impactful and engaging. Maria eloquently uses her unique style of transparency, wit, expertise and warm-spirit while providing a framework and takeaway which students can effectively apply to their overall personal development, self-esteem and professional success to successfully lead purpose-driven lives. Led by our founder and Chief Executive Officer, Maria I. Melendez, our program has already been proven to be a success as you can read the testimonials below.
Now, we are EXCITED to announce that we are launching our Made to Succeed Academy – Summer Institute in July of 2015 for young women ages 14-19 in the New York City/Tri-State area. Along with the curriculum-based program focused on the empowerment, wellness, personal and professional development of our girls, we are now creating an environment where our girls will also cultivate powerful relationships with influential women. Embrace Her Legacy will invite several esteemed professional women to participate as workshop leaders and panel discussions to not only extend their valuable knowledge and experience but to also develop potential mentorship relationships with the young women in the program.
This option is for any and all high school girls in the NYC area who are interested in signing up for the program.
Everyone’s goals are different so the key here is for participants to learn how to effectively define and accomplish their success-driven goals. Our founder will coach, educate and motivate you to get there. She will help you create specific action steps to help you achieve your goals. She will show you how to realize your dreams by becoming resourceful and how to use strategic skills like her cause and effect strategy.

If you need a little help getting your goals in order, clarity in goal-setting and defining your goals, or you want to follow a framework to help achieve your goals then this is for you. She will show how to effectively set, define and achieve your success-driven goals.
Embrace Her Legacy has proposed partnering with local (New York City tri-state area) schools and for the following program to give students the opportunity connect and build relationships with leading, professional women who are setting strides in their career and communities. Students involved will gain invaluable insight and wisdom for both professional and personal development.
We will create and facilitate a workshop focused on the importance of establishing a mentor while providing a framework of effective mentor and mentee relationship in which students will learn an in-depth approach to career & leadership development, personal wellness and the importance of cultivating professional relationships. Embrace Her Legacy will invite esteemed, hand-selected professional women to participate in the program in which students can connect with professionals to establish a mentor-mentee relationship.
Program Layout
A multiple course program (minimum 2 – maximum 5) program that breaks down the definition, importance and protocol of mentor-mentee relationships and cultivating professional relationships. Also, the program will include a “mentor mixer” where potential mentors will connect with the students and participate in a targeted discussion.
Discussion topics include but are not limited to:career, finance, self-confidence, self-image and personal beauty, beauty and the media, manifesting dreams, personal brands, living a purpose-driven life, vision board workshops, living a limitless legacy, women empowerment, personal development, and entrepreneurship.
Each session will conclude with empowering, purpose-driven action-steps for students to actively engage in their overall personal development throughout the course and will include an hour long targeted discussion and/or workshop with additional time for an interactive Q&A.
The program has to be multiple sessions for mentors and students to meet for a selected number of sessions and each session we will focus on discussing or building upon a different topics as indicated above.
Topic discussions are contingent upon client’s needs – please note that topics can be tailored.
The goal is to cultivate meaningful, lasting and empowering professional relationships between mentors and mentees.
Our Made to Succeed Academy will now be offered as a Fall and Spring semester option where all interested young women, ages 14-19 in the New York City area, can apply to be a part of the program in New York City for several Saturday dates for each semester.

The Love Your Legacy Summit kicked off on October 11th and it was a true success! This was our second annual International Day of the Girl conference where we created a transformational and empowering event in honor of our girls for honoring their education while evoking feminine confidence to boldly live in purpose and define their legacy.
