There are those pivotal moments in life where you hit a goal that you’ve dreamed about and for me, this is one of those moments!
Me, founder of Embrace Her Legacy, will have my first PUBLISHED book released everywhere June 16th 2015! I started working on this goal last year and literally stepped out on nothing but faith to get it done. I knew I had a book inside of me, so I set out to write it and pitch it to as many publishers and literary agents that I could. After what seemed like a million “no’s”, I finally got my yes! You could be just one more “no” away from that great big “yes!”
I am humbled, excited, thrilled and a little “nerxcited” (nervous and excited) to share my baby with you. Take the Limits Off Your Legacy: A Woman’s Guide to Unlock Purpose & Vision was created to evoke confidence in women and girls to embrace the power in their story and live a limitless legacy. It’s a journey of becoming who you have been called to be to honor what you have been called to do to so that you can fearlessly unlock the limitless opportunities of your life’s purpose and vision. I provide several keys to remove the limits off not only your mind but also the vision you have for your life and the power of God which will ultimately take the limits off of your legacy. My narrative and framework provokes readers to strive for a lasting impact on the lives of others by boldly deciding to birth their dreams. Incorporating a sincere account of transformation, I use my messy story of conquering several personal challenges as the foundation to provide a guide to inspire women and girls all over the world to confidently live out their dreams and embrace a limitless future. I share effective tools to empower you to honor your story, conquer fears and self-doubt, discover your purpose, give birth to your vision, and live a limitless legacy to create an optimal life with confidence, poise and intention!
I want you to walk away from reading my book determined to remove all of the self-imposed limits that you may put on yourself, on God which will ultimately put limits on your legacy. We put limits on ourselves simply by the words that we choose to speak or the thoughts that we choose to meditate on. What would happen if you actually took those limits off? We have to learn to overcome our circumstances, dig deep inside ourselves to achieve our dreams. Raised in Brooklyn, Maria successfully achieved her goals while going against the odds. After landing a scholarship to Hofstra University, she excelled as a scholar and graduated Cum Laude with a marketing degree. It was during her time at Hofstra University where Maria grew an infinite passion of empowering others, especially women. She had already overcome her own struggles as an “Afro-Latina” growing up in the inner city. She realized that had it not been for her faith, mentors and education that she would not have been privileged with all the opportunities that came her way. Maria set out on a mission of leading other young women to victoriously do as she did. During her senior year of college, Maria landed a marketing internship at Warner Music Group. Excelling at her internship lead to a full-time position just a few months later. In her position she created and managed ground-breaking promotional campaigns for artists including Jay-Z, Toni Braxton, T.I., Trey Songz, and others. Maria’s marketing and promotion prowess only flourished and essentially fueled her life-long passion of starting her own company. After facing her own fears, she resigned from Warner Music Group to launch Embrace Her Legacy so she could live in her purpose.
In addition, Embrace Her Legacy continues to partner with several non-profit organizations and corporate brands to create programs that will educate women on how to achieve their legacy and empower them with the knowledge needed to develop self-worth, awareness, value and esteem. Being on this journey of pursuing purpose, I have my “dream” moments” but I’m so focused on doing the job that I forget to embrace those sweet victory moments. I’ve been humbled to know that I don’t do what I do for the “fame” or to cover up some lack of self-worth issues but the truth is I do it because I know MUST honor the call of my life, I am serving others with my gifts, talents and abilities and provoking others to do the same. So when I was notified that Glade and ESSENCE magazine wanted to feature me as a “Women of Note” in the March 2014 issue of ESSENCE (which is their Hollywood issue and one of the most coveted issues of the year), I kinda had a “Are you serious? Are you sure? OH MY GOD” moment! What’s been harder is keeping it a secret because you guys know I’m a talker 🙂 
How did this happen? I’m glad you asked! Someone took noticed of what I was doing, knew my story and the rest is history. And that’s the most magical part here. So many times we focus on going after the big opportunities (which is totally fine), however, I’m learning to remain focused on doing my best and allowing the opportunities to come my way. You never know who is watching you, so I want to encourage you to keep doing your best. Be a person that people remember and share your story because truth is you never know who is listening. 
I practice what I preach. I preach the message of fearlessly pursuing your purpose by using your gifts to serve others, being fabulous and your best self while you do so and intentionally building a legacy that is so great that it speaks volumes for itself. I am a firm believer that you have to first become the change you want to see and it looks like it’s working for me so I am hoping I can encourage you to do it too!

Embrace Her Legacy launched our Embrace Her Community initiative and joined the fight against women cancers and volunteered at the Revlon Run/Walk in NYC on May 4th! It was such an amazing and FUN day of service as we eagerly handed out water to the run/walk participants. It touched my heart to see so many people supporting loved ones and lost family and friends who have been effected by cancer…it was such an honor to service these lovely individuals and we look forward to doing it again and again and again.
Our Embrace Her Community efforts are all about connecting you, yes YOU, with social platforms where you can be of service, impact lives and build your legacy!
