Ask yourself something. Are you clear about your intentions about every goal, every mission that you have? Don’t feel bad if you don’t or if you realize that your intentions are not pure. That’s why it’s vital to live in the best consciousness of WHO you are so that you can then DO what you have been called to do.
We want you to live your life with clarity in your intention and your character. If you are character is flawed, what can happen is your talent may take you somewhere that you character can’t sustain you and nobody has the time for that. We encourage that you do the work in your character while intentionally building and embracing your legacy. That’s actually a HUGE chunk of why Embrace Her Legacy exists…we are here to teach.

About Our Web Series – “The UnMasked Effect”
What exactly is mask and how many of us can admit to wearing one at any point in your life? As a woman I can attest to the reality that no matter how I may be feeling on the inside, I almost feel expected to go out, perform and make “it” happen no matter what the circumstances. We are all putting our best foot forward but are we healed, whole, free from those insecurities that challenge us on the daily? Everyone talks about how great they’re doing, but are you whole? This is why we decided to put an honest conversation to the forefront.
We hand-selected a group of (8) respected, professional women to discuss their journey of success and the price that they have had to pay in order to achieve their success. “The UnMasked Effect” is a sincere and thought-provoking discussion proctored by leadership and empowerment advocate, Cordelia Abrokwah, where women discuss the implied “masks” that they have worn while hiding truths about their character, insecurities or personal hardships due to fear, lack of self-worth, guilt, shame or embarrassment. Throughout the conversation, our cast of women learn wisdom and motivation needed to remove any unnecessary masks and triumph over fears, doubts or insecurities that may have hindered them on their journey.
And then this happens…
The climax of the series is when each woman partakes in an innovative yet effective exercise where they remove their implied masks. What happens next is the confrontation and honesty with oneself that leads each woman to share her truth, remove her mask and give someone else the courage to the same. We like to call it “The UnMasked Effect.”
We Lit The City In Pink
Another SUCCESSFUL Embrace Her Community event! If you didn’t know, Embrace Her Legacy was a proud media supporter of the Komen NYC Race for the Cure and their launch week City in Pink which both raise breast cancer awareness. Did you know the 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime? As supporters of this incredible cause we lit our website in pink and hosted a volunteer team on the day of the NYC race on Sept 8th, 2013. We’re looking forward to next year and those Embrace Her Legacy t-shirts you see are coming soon 🙂

Live An Enriched & Glamorous Life
Stop and think about what an enriched, fulfilled life looks like to you. Is it an external or internal definition? Well, I am hoping that it’s definitely an internal process. Sometimes we can make the mistake of defining our happy with our circumstances and all things external. But true joy, happy and peace is something that comes from within. No matter how much exterior success you may have, if you are not whole within you, the success will never be enough.
I can literally write a sermon on living an enriched life (not that I am trying too LOL!) because I have been “doing the work” for some time now. Take a quick minute and think about your character, who are are, the things that only you and you talk about – the truth. Is there anything that you do not like or are afraid of? Of course, because we have all been there and we all have to continuously develop our character in order to become our best selves (well those of us that care to do so, I’m just saying!)
Part of Embrace Her Legacy’s mission is to teach women and girls how to become distinguished women in character, it can’t solely be about your accomplishments. Those things are great, but there is nothing more that I hate than meeting someone who has tons of success but has an unpleasant, suspect character.
That’s why we have created our Enriched Life section where we share information on defining your character, discovering your purpose, overcoming trials and how to be in the best relationship with yourself. Remember if there is something in your character that you desire to change, make sure you are willing to “do the work” to make the changes. Change is not an event, it’s a process.
Embrace Your Beauty & Style
Who doesn’t love to feel beautiful? Of course, beauty starts from within but when you not only have the beauty on the inside but then top it off with right outfit and “slayed” face then you have now become unstoppable (plug-in instant selfie shot here 😉 Even if you don’t like make-up or the girly girl get-up, you still come alive when you where something that makes you look good!
You cannot tell a woman who just stepped out the the hair salon ANYTHING. She is on cloud 17 and nothing can take away that moment from her. I absolutely looooooove it. It’s like “Yeah, I’m beautiful and I know it!”
In the land of Embrace Her Legacy, it’s about legacy, character, purpose, confidence and yes beauty. People will judge you within seconds of seeing you, so why not give them the accurate impression. We believe in all things beauty, fabulous and glamorous. So that’s we created the Beauty & Style section where we share information and pointers on make-up, deal and steals, fashion and more!

Build Your Legacy With INTENTION
Picture this. Let me warn you now that it’s not a pleasant picture but it’s one that we will inevitably all face one day…
The time has come where you have passed on and it’s your funeral. It’s now the time where loved ones and those whose lives you’ve influences share some last words about you…think, what do you want them to say? This ladies (and maybe gentlemen) is your legacy. It is the impact of your contributions to this world; it’s how those contributions have influenced lives, it’s essentially who and what you’ll be remembered for and what you are passing down to future generations.
When I tell people that their lives are not their own, their lives are to influence, help and serve others according to their purpose, a light bulb goes off. If I told you that you have the choice to influence hundreds, thousands and millions of people’s lives when you make the conscious decision to live in purpose, would you not accept the call? Unfortunately, too many of us have allowed our fears, shames, doubt and insecurities to stop us from living our desired lives. However, when you do that there is a little girl or boy, or a future patient or neighbor who misses out on the opportunity to be positively influenced by you.
The truth is that each of us has a divine purpose to use our gift, talents and abilities to help serve a human need. When you begin to do that, you begin the journey of building and embracing your legacy intentionally. All great legacies are in accordance to that person using what they were good at to fulfill a need despite the odds along the way…think Steve Jobs or Martin Luther King Jr. You do not have to create a groundbreaking device or March on Washington to have a legacy. The teacher, nurse, designer, attorney, record executive also have their own legacies.
We each have the power to create the lives that we want, according to the legacy we want to leave. This is the very core of our mission which is why we created the Your Legacy section. This section is dedicated to all things to inspire, ignite, influence, impact your legacy in a transformative way.

Watch, Learn & Be Inspired!
There is so much power in the images that we see on our television, computer and mobile screens. Images and content are coming at us at what seems to be a million miles per minute with media, advertisements and images telling us what to buy, what to wear, what to look like and how to behave in order to be “better.”
I watch television and although I am a fan of entertaining reality shows, I, as an adult woman understand that it’s entertainment. And I have a cap on how much I allow myself to view; those images subliminally influence us. But then I think about all the millions of girls and women who are watching and who believe that is the accepted behavior in order to get recognition and fame. Although it can be a good laugh, some of those images can be detrimental to self-image, character and self-esteem to some of those who may be watching.
Then one evening, I watched a riveting documentary – “Half The Sky” which tells unprecedented stories of women who are truly heroes and fighting battles of human-trafficking, violence, lack of education and a plethora of other injustices brutally imposed upon women and girls all over the world. These women represented courage, strength, power, beauty and resilience. I was BLOWN AWAY because of their stories and then it hit me…there is so much power in our stories!
In a world where the celebrity is revered more than the community hero or the human rights activist, we decided to produce media that will tell the stories of dynamic women and girls that can inspire us to live purpose-driven lives, to overcome our adversities and to remind us that we each have a call to impact the lives of others…that is your legacy.
